Mechanical Engineering
The department of Mechanical engineering is an integral part of the institute since 1992. The department has a rich tradition of producing engineers capable of setting up and managing complex tasks. The department mainly focuses on cutting edge technologies and aware its students about the current trends in the field of Mechanical Engineering. The academic leadership of department aims at preparing students for the better and secure future. The department organizes various industrial visits through ISTE, ISME and IEEE. The department has departmental library which has all the important text books,conference proceeding and journal. This is besides the central library which is very well equipped.
The faculty actively participates in research and consultancy work.
The department has always been on a high growth path and has experienced and dedicated faculty with a strong commitment to engineering education.

Institute Level :
Mechanical Engineering Students Association (MESA)
The department of Mechanical Engineering has founded an association for the Mechanical Engineering students of the institute.
The society organizes various programs and inter-disciplinary activities. The students of the department show enthusiasm
and zeal in the various initiatives taken by MESA.

The department takes its students to various leading industries to give them hands on experience and practical knowledge.

The department organizes seminars / presentations / workshops / conferences / STTPs to inform and educate students about recent trends in the field of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering.
Recently, the department of Mechanical engineering organized a “National Conference on Advances in Mechanical Engineering” in association with Bhabha Atomic Research
Centre (BARC), Mumbai. The conference was received a huge response from national and international delegates.

Departmental Achievment
1. Mechanical Engineering Department has organised a "National Conference on Advances in Mechanical Engineering (NCAME 09)" on 15th anf 16th January 2009, at Rajiv Ghandhi Institute of Technology, Mumbai in association with Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Mumbai. Several eminent Scientist and Researchers from BARC Mumbai, BRNS-DAE Mumbai and IIT 58 Research papers presented with 8 keynotes addresses. 65 Institutes from all over India and one Institute from Zech Republic have participated
2. Four Teaching faculty members are pursuing their Ph.D. in various institutes/universities
3. Recently, Mechanical Engineering Department has organised a STTP on " Advances in Thermal Engineering on 21st to 25th June 2010 in association with Reliance Energy, Reliance Infrastrucure Ltd, Dahanu, which is graced by many eminent personalities from industries mainly from BHEL from all over India
