Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering (EXTC) Department of MCT’s Rajiv Gandhi institute of Technology started in 1992 with Under Graduate (UG) program intake of 60 which was further increased to 120 in the year 2010. Department's PG program started in year 2012 with intake of 18 and PhD in the year 2013 with intake of 10.

UG program of department is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation since 2014. The department has a good record of organizing seminars, workshops, and symposia in emerging technological areas. Department is blessed with highly qualified, experienced, dynamic and technologically sound faculties.

The department is having the state-of-the-art infrastructure, which includes ventilated class rooms, laboratories and staff rooms. Under the guidance of the management and principal, the department is flourishing by leaps and bounds.

The department believes in all round development of the students through continuous students-industry interaction. The department has departmental library which has all the important text books, conference proceeding and journal. The faculty actively participates in research and consultancy work.

Program Education Objective

  • Core Competence: To provide students with a sound foundation in Mathematics, scientific and engineering fundamentals necessary to formulate, solve and analyze engineering problems and to prepare for graduate studies.

  • Engineering Citizenship: To educate the student with professional and ethical attitude, effective communication skills, team work skills, multi-disciplinary approach and ability to relate engineering issues to broader social context.

  • Entrepreneurship: To prepare students for being a successful technocrats to meet technology expectations of Indian and global industries.

  • Life Long Learning: Graduates will recognize the importance of, and have the skills for, continued independent learning to become experts in their chosen fields and to broaden their professional knowledge.

Program Specific Outcome

  • Able to understand fundamentals of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering and apply them to various areas like analog and digital systems, Communication systems, Signal processing, VLSI, Embedded systems etc.

  • Able to solve complex Electronics and Tele-communication Engineering problems, using latest technical tools, with analytical skills to achieve optimized solutions.

  • Able to inculcate business skills, ethical responsibility and team work to meet technology expectations of industries.
